Candidate FAQ’s

How long will it take?

We expect a total processing time of 3-6 months depending on the location and job role or position. Please note this is a guideline and is subject to change. The timeline largely depends on your ability to gather all necessary documentation and certification.

Am I guaranteed a job when I join SkillsAway?

Although we make every effort to match you with the most suitable job opportunity as quickly as possible, it is ultimately the responsibility of the employer to choose the candidate who is the best fit for the role. Additionally, if the job requires relocation to a different country, the decision to grant a visa or work permit lies with the immigration authorities of that destination country.

Can I choose the location and type of business where I want to work?

Your preferences will be listed on your digital profile and visible to employers. You will also be able to make changes to these preferences at any time by logging into your profile page.

What are the basic requirements I need to be enrolled as a candidate?

Each country has a set of different requirements, and our team of legal experts will support you with this. However, it is important to have a valid passport and up-to-date records of your personal information, certifications, and resume.

Once selected for a job, who will help me gather all the documentation required for immigration purposes?

You will be assigned an Account Manager from SkillsAway, as well as our team of legal experts to guide you every step of the way. English-speaking countries (UK, Australia, US and Canada) will require a valid IELTS or PTE certificate.

How do I maximise my chances of being selected for a job opportunity?

To improve your chances of being selected for a job opportunity, we suggest that you thoroughly showcase your skills and experience through your digital profile. This includes ensuring that your profile is complete, up-to-date, and accurately reflects your qualifications and achievements. It's essential to be honest and transparent with the information you provide.

How much will I be paid?

You will be paid at the industry standard rate for your skill set and experience level, subject to the country. This will be specified clearly in your offer letter. Please note that you may be subject to taxes in the destination country. Information about this will be mentioned in your welcome pack.

Can I bring my family with me?

Absolutely. Please note that there are additional costs when it comes to dependent applications and may delay the overall migration process. Most candidates arrive in the destination country, establish themselves and bring their family in at a later stage.

Who arranges travel to the location of the employment?

You will be responsible for arranging travel to the country of your employment.

Will I need to find accommodation?

You will be expected to source your own accommodation. However, prior to your departure to the destination country, we will share some options with you. If you have family/friends residing in the host country this could also be an option.

What if my immigration application is rejected?

Our dedicated team of immigration experts will be supporting you throughout the process. It is important that you provide all documentation and requirements as advised. The team will typically screen all your documents prior to making the application to try and ensure no rejections or delays take place in the process. However, it is important to note some countries change their requirements frequently.

How do I integrate into the culture and social norms of the country?

Our team will provide you a welcome pack that outlines many details about your new life. We also recommend joining social media groups (Facebook, Twitter etc.) of communities belonging to your home country that may be able to assist you before your arrival.

How will I ensure I have adequate resources upon arrival?

SkillsAway ensures that you have a seamless arrival into your destination country. Your employer will advance you the first salary.

What if I am terminated?

Employers that source candidates via the SkillsAway platform typically have a six-month probationary period. We will also have scheduled updates with yourself and the employer to ensure a smooth integration.
